Doctors - Australian hospitals, general practices and other health facilities can sponsor overseas trained doctors (aka International Medical Graduates- IMG) to work in Australia for up to 4 years.
The Temporary Business Entry (Class UC) Subclass 457 - Business (Long Stay) visa is the usual pathway to permanent residence for doctors who do not yet hold full medical registration in Australia. In this way, IMGs can complete the period of supervised practice and formal assessment required for full medical registration in Australia, which in turn is required for an application for permanent skilled migration.
Employers - retain your valued IMGs, who have attained full registration, by nominating them for permanent residency under the Employer Nomination Scheme.
